Digital Privacy Post Roe: Period Trackers Aren't The Problem

PrivaZy Season 1 Episode 2

Our first episode delved into what PrivaZy Collective is as an organization and community, who makes up PrivaZy, and why we think online privacy is important, especially from the perspective of those who grew up online. In this episode, we’re going to have a conversation about a specific privacy issue: the digital privacy consequences of the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

Roe v. Wade was established under the 14th Amendment, which implicitly prevents states from infringing an individual’s right to privacy. The idea was that women should be able to make their own decision about whether to have an abortion in the first few months of pregnancy, without the intervention of the government. What we’re here to talk about today is what Dobbs means for digital privacy, collection of reproductive health data, and what we can do to protect ourselves.
